I just absolutely fell in love with this months kit!!! I'm also very sorry to say it has already sold out. If you love these kits as much as I do, sign up to automatically get one!
I started this card by stamping with VersaMark Ink onto Distress Watercolor card stock and covered with the gold embossing powder included in the kit. Then, I heat set it with my Heat Tool. Watercoloring started with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink and a water brush just where the ornaments are. After trimming it down to 4 x 5 1/4 I attached it to a card base of Bazzill Turquoise Mist. Then using my Big Shot, I die cut the sentiment Cut Out Christmas Fancy Die out of Bazzill Patina. White card stock just a bit bigger backs this die and the whole thing was sprayed with Sheer Shimmer Spritz. Then using gold vellum, I cut a piece just as I did with the white card stock. I attached this to the base and I'm done!

Autumn Blessings Card
I actually bought this stamp set Ornate Leaves quite a while ago from Simon Says Stamps and I had fun playing with it. I decided to play with the pumpkin and chose to stamp several times with inks from Hero Arts. I used Orange Soda, Tangerine and Caramel for the pumpkin, for the green swirls, Moss was used. After I got the look I wanted, I stamped again with VersaMark Ink and sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder, and set with the heat tool. I knew I wanted a specific color to back my stamped image so out comes the Distress Oxide Inks and Distress Blender Brushes. Ripe Persommon, Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade achieved that color. Next comes die cutting with my Big Shot. Majestic Label Die Set and Stitched Rectangles cut both the stamped image, backing and base. Some bakers twine and sequins from my stash helped to bring my card together. The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed.

Simple card with barely any shimmer!
If you've noticed, I like shimmer, sparkle and shine on all my cards! This one has just the tiniest bit of shimmer - feels so ...wrong! I'm using the October 2018 Kit from Hero Arts.
Like most cards, I started with 110lb Card Stock and stamped my images with Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers. Using my Big Shot, I die cut all the colored images with coordinating dies. Next the background, starting with Distress Oxide Ink, I blended the background and die cut with Stitched Rectangles Die. Then for the mound of snow, I used Stitched Hillside Border Die and adhered it to the background. Using foam tape and wet glue I arranged my tree and critters. Glossy Accents was used on the light bulbs and black pearl pen on the critters eyes. Finally, using VersaMark Ink I stamped my sentiment, covered with silver embossing powder and set with my heat tool. Trimmed that and used a Stardust pen around the edge.

I love coloring flowers Card
This beautiful floral spray is from the October Card Kit from Simon Says Stamps. I'm sorry to say it's sold out but take a peek at all that came in the kit by clicking on the link above. I'm not a subscriber but I couldn't pass up this one up.
As usual, 110lb Card Stock is my base and is stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers. Details were added with a White Gel Pen. My sentiment is stamped with VersaMark Ink, sprinkled with Gold Embossing Powder and set with my Heat Tool. To add just a bit more, I drew a frame with a Gold Gel Pen.
Update on my skin cancer: still sporting a 2x3 inch telfa pad on my left temple, it's been three weeks. I'm feeling a tad like Frankenstein but hanging in there. People, please wear Sunscreen and a Hat!

October 2018 My Monthly Hero Simple Card
I was ecstatic to receive my October kit so quickly! It came on Sunday, and considering it was shipped on Friday - I was doing my happy dance! The tree stamp and die just really appealed to me so that's what I started with first. Using Tuxedo Black Ink, I stamped on 110lb Card Stock and colored with Copic Markers. Used my trusty Big Shot die cut the pop up tree limbs and border. I got my hands on a Marvy Snow Marker and couldn't wait to use it - so I used on my tree. A bit of heat tool on it made it puff up. For my background, I used three shades of Distress Oxide Inks - wilted violet, salty ocean and broken china - and the blender brushes by Tim Holtz to blend my night sky. A spritz of water gave a reaction to resemble stars. Using Stitched Rectangle Dies I die cut the panel. Then using VersaMark Ink, I stamped my sentiment and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. Then, I mounted the panel on fun foam and attached to the card base.

Altering a Die Cut to Fit Your Needs
Hello there! Today I'm using stamps and dies from Neat and Tangled. Succulent Journaling Card Stamp Set and Die Set is one of my favorites! It's easy to color and has several perfect sentiments. But for today's cards I wanted a lighter look to them so I chose to alter the die cut a bit. Let me back up, first I stamped using Tuxedo Black Ink on to 110lb card stock and colored the flowers with Copic Markers. Next, I used my trusty Big Shot to cut the overlay die out of black card stock. When I placed it over the colored image, I decided I wanted the sentiment black stamping on white instead of reverse. So I pulled out a Pen Blade and cut away the area where the sentiment goes, following the indents made by the die. (See picture below) Next, I stamped the sentiment with Black Onyx Ink and heat set Clear Embossing Powder with my heat tool.
To pull the cards together, one is mounted on grey card stock and tied with a sheer ribbon and added Glossy Accents dots.
The next card is a gatefold card. The front is stamped using Cloud Ink and Center Cut Heart Stamp.
Here's a picture showing the die cut and the part I cut away.
Hope you have a great day and keep on crafting!

Feeling a little Pineappley
Hello there, I'm back today after an absolutely awful day yesterday. Spent 9 hours at the Dermatologist having a wretched skin cancer removed. Moh's procedure is when they take some skin off and then freeze, slice and examine slide. They keep doing this until they get all the cancer cells gone. For me this was 7 times. So right now my left temple is sporting a 1 1/2 x 2 inch patch missing skin - "Gnarly" was the term the nurse used - she wasn't lying! Sorry, feeling a bit pitiful right now. I watched a few recorded shows while I sipped on my coffee. Now I'm ready to share a card I made.
A recent visit to Hobby Lobby landed me with several clearance items, including this adorable Pineapple D-Lite Die. Some gold foil paper added shine to my card when I used my Big Shot to cut the shape. Using 110lb Card Stock I blended Mowed Lawn, Wild Honey and Mustard Seed Distress Ink, using the negative die cut for placement. I held it in place with low tack tape. The first try, I didn't cover the entire piece with tape and smeared so the second try, I covered the entire stitched rectangle that wasn't to be colored - lesson learned. After blending, I attached the gold foil paper pineapple with strong glue. I backed this piece with 1/16 inch black card stock. Next I flipped through a The Paper Studio 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 pad called The Shop On the Square and found some foiled pineapple paper - score! For those who don't know - The Paper Studio is Hobby Lobby's house brand. This became my card base and I chose a a 1 1/4 inch black strip along with some teeny tiny gold and clear washi tape (also from The Paper Studio) to break up the background. Man that's a mouthful! Finally, I attached the pineapple piece with fun foam behind it for dimension. The entire piece was then adhered to a top folding note card. I chose not to add a sentiment on this one.
Have a great day and keep on crafting - I for one, am headed to my craft space!

Love Card
Today's card is made using one of those extra backgrounds I had laying around. You know, when you're playing with techniques and make several. I save EVERYTHING! So when I pulled out this new Heart Love Die by Momenta that I purchased at Hobby Lobby, this card came together quickly!
The background has lots of distress inks blended on watercolor paper. I then took a stencil and spritzed the back with a fine mist of water and applied it to the inked background. Taking paper towels to soak up extra water and then set it aside to air dry. Sorry, the stencil is older and I don't know the name.
Using 110lb Card Stock I ran the die and card stock through my Big Shot and then sprayed Sheer Shimmer Spritz over the die cut for some sparkle. To bring my card together, I matted my background piece and adhered it to my card base. Using Multi Matte Medium I attached the sparkly die cut.
Have a great day and keep on crafting!

MFT 2018 Card Design Superstar Entries
My Favorite Things has a contest going on right now and here are my three entries. Here's my Clean & Simple Genius Card.
It's made using the Celebrate Die-Namic. There are three layers of that word with the top being glitter cardstock. I chose two shades of lilac and used a 1/16" border and raised the entire lilac section with fun foam. It's clean and simple alright~
Here's my entry for the Coloring Virtuoso.
I just love the Beast Friends Stamp Set! I colored those Yeti's with Copic Markers and Prismacolor Pencils. The Trees, also colored with Copics have a "dusting of snow" that was Stickles. I don't have the matching Die-Namics so I fussy cut them and then ran a black Copic around the edge to cover the white card stock. My clouds were made with Broken China Distress Oxide Ink and the Cloud Stencil. The snow is a thick layer of Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Moonstone and the entire card has Sheer Shimmer Spritz sprayed on it. My sentiment is stamped and heat embossed with silver embossing powder. I attached the trees with collage medium and the Yeti's with foam tape to add another layer of dimension. Finally a 1/16" black border backs my Rare Yeti piece and all that is adhered to the card base.
And Finally my Innovation Master entry.
I chose to make a shaker box using Blueprint 24 Die-Namics, Lock & Key Die-Namic and Full of Hearts Die-Namics. I cut my bottom layer and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from No Place Like Home Stamp Set. For the shaker, I used red and gold glitter hearts for the filler. The key and shaker edge is coated in gold ink direct to paper. All this is attached to my red card base. I really do love the look of red and white.
I took a peek at some of the entries already linked and I am so impressed with what I saw! The judges have their work cut out for them! Good Luck to all!

You Totally Got This Card
Today I've got a winter encouragement card to show you. I'm starting with my background, it's 110lb Card Stock, the Mini Aspen Tree Stencil, some distress oxide Ink and those wonderful Distress Blender Brushes and went to town. Those brushes really get into every nook and cranny. One of the recent Hero Art My Monthly Hero Kits had some White Puffy Embossing Powder and I thought this would go well with my scene. The hill was made with my Big Shot, stitched hillside border die, VersaMark ink and that puffy embossing powder. On top of the hill sits two little foxes from the Upon a Star stamp and die set and they are colored with Copic Markers. Using the same color card stock as the card base, I cut a small strip and heat embossed my sentiment. The hill is raised with foam tape for dimension .

Saddle Up and Celebrate Card
Using Flowers and Fence Stamp and Die Set along with Saddle Up Stamp Set, the same set as my last card, helped change this card up. Instead of a bright card, I achieved a more rustic one. For my images, I started by stamping with Tuxedo Black Ink on to 110 lb Card Stock and coloring with Copic Markers. Using VersaMark Ink and gold embossing powder I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on Kraft paper. Next I pulled out my Big Shot to die cut all my images and fence. For my background I used the Lumber Embossing Folder and cream colored card stock. After, I used Vintage Photo Oxide Ink over the raised image and around edges of both lumber piece and all Kraft colored pieces. For detail, I used a fine black pen around the sentiment strip as well as a silver metallic pen on my cowgirl to make her shine. A teal ribbon is tied around the lumber piece. Then to pull the card together I attached all my elements using a wet adhesive, dry adhesive and foam tape for dimension.

Saddle Up Birthday Card and Sale
My Favorite Things frequently has really good sales and at the last one I scored! Saddle Up Stamp Set and coordinating Die-Namics were part of this and today's card uses both! I started with 110lb card stock and stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers. Using my Big Shot I die cut all my pieces including stitched hills (SSS) and Stitched Circles (sun). For my background I used the Cloud Stencil and Distress Oxide Inks. To bring my card together, I used foam tape on several pieces for dimension and Glossy Accents on the balloon for shine. The sentiment is stamped with Black Onyx Ink, sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder and set with my Heat Tool.
Now for that Sale - Scrapbook.com is having a 20-50% off on Sizzix and that includes the Big Shot for $79.99! I use mine on nearly every card I make and have owned mine forever!!

Big Deal Birthday Card
I'm calling this "Big Deal" card because of the sentiment but it is kind of a big deal because I used lots of My Favorite Things Products! Many that I just got with their most recent sale - got to love a sale! Started with my go to - Neenah 110lb Card Stock, Tuxedo Black Ink and Copic Markers. I added Happy Hippo Stamp and started coloring. Such cute little critters that are really easy to color and loved being able to change it up and add a sweet chick on top of the balloons. After coloring was done, it was time to pull out the Itsy Bitsy Polka Dot Background Stamp and Light Teal Ink from Hero Arts. For the sentiment I stamped with Black Onyx Ink, sprinkled Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. Then I whipped out Blueprint Sketch #24 Die-Namic and my Big Shot to die cut all my pieces. Foam Tape raises the image and sentiment. Final details were Glossy Accents on the balloons and a few sequins with Stickles on them AND a bakers twine bow at the top.
Hope you have a great day and keep on crafting!

Expresso Yourself - More August My Monthly Hero
Here's another card using the August My Monthly Hero Kit. Just like my last post, I watercolored the images using distress ink after I stamped with Versafine Black Ink on Canson Mixed Media paper. Using the included dies, I used my Big Shot to die cut the watercolored images along with the swirl of steam out of vellum.
Also die cut the Bold Graphic Confetti Die out of White Neenah 110lb card stock. The sentiment is stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Silver Stampin Up Embossing Powder three times. To hide the adhesive on the vellum, I ran the whole strip through a Create a Sticker Dispenser covering the entire back. This is an excellent way to attach vellum!
To bring my card together the white die cut background was adhered to the card base. The center coffee cup is raised with foam tape and the other two are adhered to the die. Those vellum steam dies were covered with Clear Sparkle Pen for shine and also covered the back with adhesive with the Create A Sticker Dispenser. Finally the embossed sentiment is attached.

A Latte Love - August 2018 My Monthly Hero
When I saw the coffee and tea theme for this August My Monthly Hero Kit - I was super excited! Just love all the images and such clever sentiments!
This creative adventure started with Canson Mixed Media Paper and Versafine Ink and went to town stamping at least 3 of each vessel and oodles of those puffs of whipped cream. Then I pulled some distress inks and my handy dandy Tonic Glass Mat which is PERFECT for watercoloring. Got to thank my best friend Becky for the early birthday gift for that! Once all my images were dry, I used the puffy embossing powder (included in the kit) to put the heart cream swirl in the coffee cup.
To bring my card together, I used the Cute As A Bug Step Up Card as a base. Vintage Photo Oxide Ink was used to stamp a steam image randomly on the base. The kit included tea dyed paper was die cut and inked around the edges. The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. My coffee cup is raised with foam tape and to finish the card I used chalk white seam binding to tie a bow.
Have a great day and keep on crafting!

Gold on Kraft Paper - Pineapples
Ever since I got the Pineapple Perfection Stamp I thought, I bet this would look really good with gold on Kraft paper. Now I have had this stamp for a while but it took me til now to do it and I couldn't be happier with the results. The picture just doesn't do it justice in real life.
First I stamped with VersaMark Ink onto Kraft card stock. Then heat embossed with gold embossing powder from Stampin' Up. I pulled out my Starry Color Watercolors. I used just the tiniest bit of water to color to keep warping to a minimum. After it dried I used 1/4 inch double sided adhesive to really secure to the card base. Using my Big Shot, Happy Stamp N Cut and gold glitter paper, I die cut the sentiment. The using the same gold embossing powder I heat embossed the word birthday on Neenah 110lb Card Stock. To bring the card together, I trimmed the embossed word and adhered both pieces with Multi Matte Medium. Some gold and white bakers twine was tied at the top.
Hope you're having a great day and keep on crafting.

My try at the July My Monthly Hero Kit
It's so fun to see what everyone does with the My Monthly Hero Kit and here's three cards. After seeing all the inspiration from the design team it's sometimes difficult to come up with something different.
First card is very simple. There are three small balloon shapes in the kit and I staggered them and stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink on to Neenah Classic Crest 110lb Card Stock and colored with Copic Markers. Glossy Accents add some shine. A quick Celebrate Die-Namic over glitter paper ran through the Big Shot and I've got sparkle!
Next card uses that big wonderful background die that came with the kit. But first I used a Cloud Stencil and Broken China Distress Oxide Ink to create a sky. Then I ran that through the die cut machine. I stamped the sentiment with the same distress oxide ink and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder then used Majestic Label Die to cut. The Ferris wheel image was stamped and colored with copic markers and covered with glossy accents. Finally dies were raised with foam tape and detail pen work was done with a Stardust Pen.

The third card uses the same supplies as the first with a few additions of the reactive inks, that I used to watercolor, silver Signo gel pen and Sparkle Pen. Not quite as happy with this one.

Three Cards - Same Sentiment
Today's cards have the same sentiment and are all made the same way. I also learned a lesson that I will share! The sentiment is from Sizzix and is meant for a pop-up inside a card called Scallop Drop in with Gifts. I simply die cut the Happy Birthday and then used my Pen Blade to cut the sides. Then I used VersaMark Ink and embossing powder to change them up.
The first card uses the Ornate Background Stamp on Neenah Classic Crest 110lb with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder. Then I used Distress Oxide ink in Faded Jeans over the embossed area. I do love the look of white and blue! This was mounted on blue card stock from Michaels. The sentiment is covered with watermark ink and heat embossed with Navy Embossing Powder - I did a few coats. Then I cut slivers of foam tape and attached it to the card.
The next card is where I learned a lesson - the card is made the same way as above with a few changes. The background is Abstract Waves Bold and colored with Distress Oxide Inks direct to paper and sprayed with water. This time I used a glitter embossing powder and that where the problem came - it was very particular with heat embossing. When I repeated the VersaMark Ink, loose glitter stuck to my ink pad - it made a huge mess - glitter was everywhere... I finished with two coats of heat embossing and adhered it to the card with Collage Medium. I was looking for a slightly raised sentiment - in hind sight, I should have rolled the piece so it was flat. I ended up pressing it down, losing the dimension :(
For my third card I used the Family Word Bold Background Stamp and used several colors of Distress Oxide Inks and blended them together. Once the sentiment is heat embossed, it too, was attached with foam tape. Lesson learned again - blue glitter transferred from versa mark ink pad is not covered up by the beautiful White Satin Pearl Embossing Powder. If you look closely you'll see tiny blue dots in the sentiment. This time I added a sheer ribbon to the card. After heat embossing and seeing it - I took a stiff piece of card stock and "scraped" the glitter off the ink pad.
So I hope you learn from my mistakes. Have a great day and keep crafting!

Another Card using Coloring Challenge Image
Today's card uses an image from Simon Says Stamps called Choose Joy. The rain boots was stamped on Watercolor Card Stock with VersaFine Ink. Masking Fluid was applied on the dots and once dried, I began watercoloring with these watercolors. To bring the card together I whipped out my trusty Big Shot and began die cutting. I used Spellbinders Labels 18 in two sizes to cut the image. For the background I used 3D Woven Embossing Folder and used a Tim Holtz Blender Brush and Tide Pool Ink to really show the dimension. A piece of aqua ribbon from my stash is tied around the background. The die cut image is applied with Score Tape to really secure it.
I actually bought the 3D embossing folder back in April and this is the first time I used it - and I love it!!!

Making Cards with 30 Day Coloring Challenge
Hello all,
Hope everyone had a good time celebrating the 4th of July! I'm back from a break and have three cards using the same image I colored for the challenge. All three images are from the most recent sale from My Favorite Things called Fresh Squeezed. All three uses Tuxedo Black Ink stamped on Neenah Classic Crest 110lb Card Stock and colored with Copic Markers. A few have liquid masking applied before coloring. All are raised with foam tape and have Glossy Accents on the glass and shoes.
This background has lemon slices stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder then die cut with Stitched Rectangles through my Big Shot. The sentiment is stamped with Tuxedo Black Ink and die cut with Hearts in a Row. Bakers twine and sequins are added embellishments.
This card uses the Horizontal Stripes Die negatives that was leftover from a previous card. The pieces are attached with the die cut for correct placement. The circle is inked and placed on a larger Stitched Circle Die cut from vellum. The sentiment is stamped on vellum and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder and die cut using Hearts In A Row. Sequins and Bakers twine are added embellishments.
This card uses the Quilted Back Drop Die and placed over Aqua linen style card stock. Again the Stitched Rectangles Dies were used and some ribbon from my stash.
Hope you like them and inspire you to play more with backgrounds. Have a great day and keep crafting!
